The Sucata Run is a bargain basement banger rally tour where teams of up to 4 people drive to Europe's most westerly point in 4 days, in bangers costing no more than £250. The teams compete in fancy dress and customise their vehicles. It takes place over the August bank holiday weekend (25th - 28th) and culminates at the breath-taking Guincho beach on the Portuguese coast. This year Richard Barnbrook from Vocis took part in the event. Richard made it to Portugal eventually, even though it meant driving the length of Spain and Portugal with a locked clutch!
Through sponsorship the team raised a very respectable £1318.00 for the Gemin-i charity.
Gemin-i is an educational charity helping children around the world share ideas and work together for a brighter future. This year one of the new projects the money raised will be helping to support is an HIV and AIDS awareness project (entitled "Youth Action Exchange") being launched later this year in over 100 countries around the globe.
